Because protecting nature also means protecting those who depend on it, at HUMY, every action links the safeguarding of biodiversity to a concrete improvement in the living conditions of local populations.

Protecting biodiversity by helping Men
HUMY is an international solidarity organization created in 2006. Our association aims to take action to protect the environment through co-development.
Humy works with a network of local partners to co-construct solutions to improve living conditions for local populations. HUMY promotes a global, integrated approach that places environmental issues at the heart of human development challenges on natural sites recognized as global biodiversity hotspots. The term HUMY (HUMan and biodiversitY) sums up the challenges faced by our NGO.
Today, the association in 6 countries (Benin, Burkina Faso, Cambodia, Colombia, Indonesia, Madagascar)

Our projects around the world
Our values
Solidarity and conscience
Faced with growing environmental degradation and its harmful impact on biodiversity worldwide, HUMY has decided to act in favor of biodiversity, for the planet and local populations.
Determination
HUMY teams go out into the field, meet local people, raise environmental and social issues and raise the funds needed to act in favor of biodiversity and local populations.
Symbiosis
HUMY is an organization that implements projects, in partnership with local associations and the populations concerned, to protect biodiversity while promoting social progress.
Courage
HUMY's commitment is rooted in a strong operational dimension, enabling us to deal with all constraints in the field and provide sustainable solutions accepted by all.
Transmission
To develop sustainable projects, HUMY passes on its know-how and best practices to local populations so that they can eventually become totally self-sufficient.
Community
HUMY, its volunteers, members and donors are committed to concrete action in the field and are proud to express the values defended by the association loud and clear.

Our partners premises

In each area where we operate, HUMY systematically partners with a locally-based organization and supports them in developing their business.
To ensure maximum impact, each partner is carefully selected and supported over several years until financial and technical autonomy for local populations is acquired. By combining their knowledge of the areas in which they work with our expertise, we can work together to build a conservation strategy that's right for you.
Our missions
The emergence and strengthening of our local partners

HUMY offers complementary technical and financial support that fits in with the intervention strategies of our local partners.
Developing relevant, sustainable projects

Each project implemented by HUMY is subject to a pre- and post-evaluation. We act in complete transparency with our sponsors, and offer them the opportunity to visit the site to monitor the use of the funds entrusted to HUMY.
Commitment and social responsibility

HUMY offers solutions to companies and individuals wishing to take a responsible approach and act in favor of biodiversity and local populations.

Testimonials on Humy
Let's hear from the people who actively participate in our projects, bringing them to life and helping to protect biodiversity and local communities.
«Eleven years of action in Benin, eight years of intervention in Tanguiéta and soon four years of collaboration with Humy, I can, in my capacity as president of the NGO Ecodec, testify to the willingness of this association to encourage and support sustainable grassroots development in Benin. The dynamism of Humy's team in mobilizing resources and transferring them to local partner associations, in this case Ecodec, has made it possible to substantially improve the incomes of over 500 farmers (in the communes of Matéri and Tanguiéta) through the «Agroforestry» project, by improving agricultural yields and selling timber, and to contribute to the regeneration of the vegetation cover, which is in serious decline in this geographical area of the country. Its financial support will also have contributed to the financial empowerment of women, via support for women's groups, and enabled several children from very poor households to study thanks to the «school sponsorship» program.»
«I was ashamed of being the only woman to practice this activity in my area of Tanguiéta. But at the training course, the instructors and our trainer Mr. Wahabou encouraged me and reinforced my taste for the activity. I'm very happy, and with my husband we've become a couple of nurserymen and market gardeners thanks to Humy's support».»
«I'd been doing the nursery coupled with the small vegetable garden for a few years. Self-taught, I dreamed of being trained by a nurseryman, but I couldn't afford the training. I was delighted to be selected by Ecodec and its partner Humy to take the course in Tanguiéta. I'm really happy about it, and my business has taken on a whole new dimension.»
«For several years now, I've been supporting HUMY, which implements global sustainable development programs for populations living in some of the world's most deprived areas. HUMY provides these communities not with charity, but with the tools they need to create a future for themselves.»
